I need a new laptop

It ain't $10,000,000 but its better than nothing. I got 6 $400 credits towards a bunch of different prizes. most I have no interest in, but there was one that caught my eye...

Dell Laptop

Processor: Intel Pentium M 1.6 GHz
OS: XP
Hard Drive: 40 GB
RAM: 512 MB
Screen: 14.1"
$749.95 - $400=$349.95

You guys prolly know computers more than I do. My current laptop is a piece of crap, so this is doubtlessly better, but is it worth the $350?

I wouldn't if I was you. The hard drive would probably fill up fast, you'd need to buy more RAM, and XP is so outdated now.
Also, moved to Computers section.

Well I don't really have a lot of stuff I put on my computer, I really just want a comp that won't do all that crap I talked about it doing in the other thread. also, I like XP...

It would be fine for a "lite-use" computer, I suppose. Adding 512 MB or more of RAM still wouldn't hurt, though.

Adding RAM is pretty easy, but it's a little more difficult on a laptop.

First, how did you win the prizes?

Second, get a Toshiba. Obv.

a Toshiba isn't an option. As for how I won, they sent me a letter saying that my initials qualified me to eneter their $10,000,000 contest *shrug* so i entered. I didn't win that, so intead I got a bunch of $400 coupons for different things. the only one i'm even considering is the laptop.

So the coupons expire in a couple weeks, so i gotta know if this is gonna be even slightly worth it before i either go for it or not. I don't really do a lot on my laptop. it stores my music, a modest selection of 400ish songs, and i play flash games and occassionally Warcraft 3 on it. that's about it. Is this computer capable of handling this?

well, having decided against getting it, I suppose I will instead use this thread to get opinions on other computers that I'm considering, assuming admins don't mind.
